The blog this week is about the windscreen on your Volvo and Toyota. Getting chips seen to straight away could save you from an MOT failure later down the line. It is also way more cost effective than leaving it to develop into a crack – especially during these cold winter months!

During your MOT the assessor will check the condition of your Volvo or Toyota windscreen. He or she will be checking to see if the drivers’ visibility is impaired. If you are unfortunate to discover a chip phone your insurance company straight away, most policies offer a free repair service and they can be done whilst you are at home or work, as they can come to you. Many supermarkets also have a chip repair service being offered in the carpark. A chip can very quickly lead to a crack, especially in this cold weather. If this were to happen then you could find yourself having to pay for a new windscreen, not to mention the inconvenience of having your Volvo or Toyota off the road whilst it is being repaired. Your windscreen shattering whilst you are travelling at speed on the motorway can be a very scary experience not to mention a dangerous one – so get those chips sorted straight away!

During your MOT your windscreen wipers will also be checked to make sure they work properly and that there are no signs of wear and tear. At the end of the day the blades are made of rubber and they perish over time. If they do not clear your windscreen properly they will put you and other road users in danger. Regularly check that your washer bottle is topped up and carry a spare bottle in the boot of your Volvo or Toyota. During the winter you will use way more water to clear your windscreen because of the salt being laid on the roads. Chips in the windscreen and defective wiper blades are common MOT failures but inexpensive items to rectify. Check these before you take your Volvo or Toyota in for its MOT, help yourself to ensure that your car passes first time everytime! Happy driving folks!
