Always Research Price Comparison Sites For Your Annual Car Insurance

Everyone wants to save money on a monthly basis, maybe for that annual holiday or your children’s university fund or for home improvements. Maybe it is to counteract the constant increases in your weekly food shops or increased utility bills. Read on to find out more:

Running a car has become a major expense, especially with the ever increasing fuel prices. Drivers can use certain methods to not only decrease fuel consumption but to also reduce other costs when running a car throughout the year. We have written many blogs over the years on ways to reduce the costs of car ownership. The expense of running a car is no joke and can take a huge chunk out of the monthly household budget. Car Insurance is a big expense each year, but it is also a necessity. If your insurance policy is up for renewal, always shop around and obtain quotes from different insurers. In the past you had to literally sit by your phone with the yellow pages and call up different insurance companies and repeat yourself over and over again. Not anymore! Go on the price comparison websites and see what deals there are to be had. You input your details once and watch the quotes pop up. Consider negotiating with present insurers if rivals have offered lower insurance quotes. Insurers won’t offer a lower quote to a customer they have had for years but they may be more likely to if they think they are going to lose a customer. One of our customers recently told us that she had been with the same insurance company for 6 years however every year the insurance premium kept going up despite her making no claims so this year she decided to spend a little time on a comparison site. She found lots of quotes that were up to £200 less than her renewal premium so signed up with a new insurer. Not only was the insurance £200 cheaper – it also came with no excess to pay in the event of an accident – so a double win right there! When she called her existing insurance company to inform them that she would not be renewing they asked her why. She told them she had received several much better offers so they then offered to reduce her renewal quote but only by £80. This left a bitter taste in her mouth – firstly that they could knock £80 off just like that but that they really had no incentive to keep a loyal customer that had never claimed on their policy. She has vowed to look at comparison sites every year from now on. Tweaking your insurance may also make a big difference - consider upping the excess on your policy!
