Photo card licences first came into force during 1998, and by April of 2012, approximately 1.7 million of these licenses became out of date, this information is courtesy of the DVLA.

They go on to report that around another 2.3 million will become out of date throughout the rest of 2012. Don’t become an expensive statistic! It only costs £20 to renew your licence, we know which one we would rather pay! Additionally under the new system the photo’s on the licenses need to be renewed every 10 years regardless as to whether you think you have aged or changed with regards to your photo – don’t take the risk of the fine, it only takes a couple of minutes to check!
