Do You Have Breakdown Cover?

The blog this week is based around breakdown cover costs when owning a Volvo or Toyota. Below you will find some helpful advice and things to consider that may make it easier to make a decision when purchasing breakdown cover for your Volvo or Toyota. Read on to find out more:

The chances are that most drivers have experienced at least one breakdown, this could be something simple like a flat battery or a tyre blowout or it could be something more expensive like your engine overheating or a clutch or gearbox issue. To call a tow truck if your car is undriveable could end up being a very costly exercise.

Breakdown cover ranges from simply having an engineer take a look at your Volvo or Toyota at the roadside or at your home, to having the car picked up anywhere in Europe with a courtesy car to continue you on your journey. It is worth checking your car insurance to see if you took the option to have breakdown cover included with your insurance or if Green Flag Assistance is offered FOC on your current bank account.

Naturally, the higher the level of cover you request, the more it costs. Make sure you check what’s included in each level of cover and choose the one that best meets your needs. One way of course to avoid breakdowns is to ensure that you have your Volvo or Toyota serviced regularly. If you check your tyres and tyre pressures regularly then this will help keep your tyres in tip top condition. Regularly topping up the fluids in your Volvo or Toyota will also help to keep the engine lubricated and ensure there is enough water for the radiator to avoid overheating. If any of your dashboard warning lights come on take your car straight to your local Independent Garage for investigation. Please do not stick your head in the sand and ignore them – they will not go away without action. We cannot stress enough that preventative maintenance is always cheaper than reactive repairs. These costs could be way cheaper than trying to fix a problem after the major damage has been done.
