Here at ACC UK Ltd, Independent Volvo & Toyota Servicing, Repair and MOT Specialists of Farnborough, Hampshire, we like to give you handy weekly hints
and tips to help you with your motoring dilemmas, tricks to save money on your annual motoring bill and generally to keep you informed of changes to
motoring law. This week our blog is centred around spring driving.

1) If you have winter tyres on your car keep them on until the ambient temperature remains above 7 degrees. Parts of the country are still experiencing
snowfall, and some mornings we still wake to find our windscreens need scraping from ice, so keep them on for a little longer. As we start to go through
the freeze and thaw cycle potholes in roads increase. To protect your car from damage, try and avoid them when safe to do so. If you can, report them
to your local council as soon as possible. Check your tyres regularly and keep them inflated to the correct ratios, this will not only help to protect
from damage when you go over a pothole, it will also extend the life of your tyres saving money.

2) Now the weather is starting to warm up and the mornings and evenings are getting lighter more and more cyclists will be taking to the roads. Be aware
at all times, when pulling out of roads check, check and check again before completing your manoeuvre. Also some cyclists listen to iPods and may not
hear you approaching from behind, when over taking them give the cyclist plenty of space and be aware of oncoming traffic.

3) The warmer weather and the lighter evenings inevitably bring more children out. Be mindful that they are usually engrossed in chatting to their friends
and busy texting on their phones and may not be paying particular attention to what is going on around them. We have seen plenty of adults and children
step into the road whilst engrossed in their phones. Also be aware that they may be listening to their iPod and may not hear you coming from behind,
always slow down when approaching.

4) Now spring is coming, many animals will be coming out of hibernation. Be alert as they will not be. They will be groggy and busy thinking about looking
for food. Slow down in rural areas, as taking evasive action to avoid a collision at speed can be dangerous as can hitting an animal. Motorists have
lost their lives doing both.
