to give you hints and tips on maintaining your Volvo or Toyota to help reduce breakdowns and expensive car repair bills.
The blog this week is about how to connect/disconnect your Volvo or Toyota car battery. It may seem like a simple procedure to those in the know but if
you have never done it before then you need to read the blog to ensure that you are doing it correctly.
One very important thing to remember is that if you are going to be doing any maintenance on your Volvo or Toyota at home that involves the electrical
system then you must first disconnect the battery. To disconnect your Volvo or Toyota battery you must first disconnect the negative side. This is
very important!! If you disconnect the positive side first the negative side is still connected to the entire car and you could risk an electrical
shock. The negative side will ensure that you cut off the return path for the current thus avoiding the risk of an electrical shock. When it comes
to reconnecting your Volvo or Toyota car battery you must connect the positive first and then the negative – so the reverse way of disconnecting it.
Don’t worry about the spark when you put the negative connector on – this is totally normal and harmless.
