Issues With Your Car – Do Not Ignore!

The blog this week is based around some of the issues that you should never ignore when it comes to the health of your Volvo or Toyota. If you stick your head in the sand thinking problems will go away, you are kidding yourself. Invariably the repair is always going to cost more than if you had acted straight away. Believe us when we say that preventative maintenance on your Volvo or Toyota is always going to cost less than reactive maintenance. Read on to find out more:
Timing Belt – if you notice that your timing belt becomes squeaky then get yourself to your local independent garage for inspection. It
will be very expensive to repair the damage done if the timing belt snaps on your Volvo or Toyota. It’s worth checking your Volvo or Toyota owners’ manual to see when the recommended timing belt service is due – never ever put this off. Can you afford to replace the engine on your car? Or even to purchase a new car?
Juddering Steering Wheel – if you notice that your steering wheel is shaking this could be for any number of reasons such as wheel alignment/balance issues (relatively inexpensive to rectify) or possibly a suspension issue – get yourself to your local independent Volvo or Toyota garage for further inspection – you have compromised car control which is dangerous to you and other road users. This issue will not right itself – get professional advice!
Blown Bulbs – if you can replace your bulbs yourself then great, if not get yourself down to your local independent garage. You risk
a fine if caught with no lights – more expense! Again, this can be a relatively inexpensive issue to correct in comparison to getting stopped and issued a fine!
Engine Management Light – if this light comes on then the first port of call should be to your local independent Volvo or Toyota garage for further inspection. This light does not always mean an expensive bill! Your local motor vehicle technician will run some diagnostics to ascertain the fault code and then they will advise from there – do not think that it will just go away on its own – it won’t – and ignoring this light could prove very expensive if you continue to drive your Volvo or Toyota without getting the issue investigated. It is called a warning light for a reason – it is warning you that there is a potential problem.
Damaged Paintwork – get any damaged or scratched paintwork seen to straight away. Some scratches you can see to yourself, others will require professional assistance. Looking after the bodywork of your Volvo or Toyota will help the resale price when you look to selling your car on. It will show that the car has been well looked after. Sorting small issues before they become bigger issues will always be way cheaper. Your local independent garage may offer a bodywork service or if not, they will definitely be able to recommend someone in the trade that is trustworthy. Happy Safe Motoring Folks!
