The blog this week is about the importance of maintaining your Volvo or Toyota between servicing. Ensuring that you get your Volvo or Toyota serviced each year and maintaining it between services – really is money well spent. Your local independent garage is likely to catch potential issues early on when they are cheaper to fix – saving you money in the long run. Read on to find out more:

Two other great benefits of a well maintained Volvo or Toyota is that it will last much longer and your Volvo or Toyota will have a better resale value when you come to sell it.

A well-maintained Volvo or Toyota will also more efficient, so you’ll save money on fuel as well as the fuel consumption will be better. Basic items that you can maintain are checking your tyre pressures and bonnet levels along with washing your car regularly to spot signs of rust early. Some people are confident in changing their oil and filter in-between servicing. If you do change your oil yourself, please ensure that you dispose of the old oil in the correct manner. If you find that you need to claim on a warranty, you will normally have to show that you’ve got a complete service record. Any missed services will hamper a claim for sure. So always make sure that you adhere to the manufacturer’s service schedule which you will find in the handbook and get your service book stamped by your local independent garage each time you have a service.

Keep an eye on the cam-belt

One of the things that often gets overlooked or put off is the cam-belt change. This is required because the cam-belt is at the end of its life, putting this off could result in very expensive consequences – a new engine springs to mind! Its far cheaper to have your cam belt changed than have to get a new or reconditioned engine for your Volvo or Toyota. Check your Volvo or Toyota service manual to find out when your car is due to have its cam-belt /timing belt replaced. This varies from car to car but is often needed at around 70,000 to 80,000 miles. Happy Safe Motoring Folks!
