Meet The Team: David Alpin

Every week we will be doing a getting to know the team blog. We have been in business for 23 years and have had staff come and go over the years but have never done a meet the team blog. This week we are shining the spotlight on David Alpin. David has worked with us here as a driver for the last couple of years and is a valued member of the team. We asked everyone the same questions…..it’s just a bit of fun!

What's your favourite movie quote?
“You’re going to need a bigger boat”
This is from the 1975 film Jaws. It’s spoken by Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) after the shark first appears behind the boat 

What's the most interesting place you've ever travelled to & why?
Latvia 1988 a couple of years before the fall of the USSR

What's your go-to karaoke song?
I have never done karaoke or been to one – I’m not the singing type

What's your favourite way to unwind after a long workday?
A long walk with my wife and a glass of good white wine

If you could switch jobs with anyone for a week, who would it be?
The King of England – just to experience a lifestyle no one sees in normal life

If our team had a theme song, what would it be? 
We are the champions - Queen

What's the strangest thing you've ever eaten?
Durian fruit – tropical fruit known for its distinctive and pungent odor

If you could be any fictional character, who would you be and why? 
Deadpool – best anti hero ever 

If you could pick up a new skill in an instant, what would it be? 
Flying - pilot

What's the funniest thing that's happened to you recently?
Spending 5 minutes saying I hadn’t lost or broken a pair of sunglasses for 2 years to then bend down in Costco with my sunglasses falling off my head and breaking on the floor – that is what I would call karma and bad timing!

What's the worst piece of advice you've ever been given? 
Being told by a football mate not to hold your wife’s hand when she was giving birth – he had 10 stitches when his wife ripped his nose!

If you could be any animal for a day, which would you choose and why?
A Bengal Tiger – they are majestic
Bengal tigers are known for their distinctive reddish-orange fur with black stripes, which are unique to each tiger and their white underparts. They are the largest of the tiger species. They are powerful, solitary hunters with sharp claws and teeth adapted for hunting prey like deer. They are also known for their strong memory and intelligence. 

What's your favourite holiday and why?
Fathers Day – I love to see our children

What's a fun fact about yourself that people might not know?
I trained the original gladiators (TV program) how to rock climb

If you could turn your belly button into a real button, what would it do? 
To stop all wars and suffering

What is your dream car?
Aston Martin DB10

Best thing about your job?
Seeing the inside of Army/Airforce bases when I go and pick up and drop off the vehicles

If you could add one element to our workspace, what would it be?
Proper bean to cup coffee machine
