The blog this week is about why it is imperative that you get your car serviced regularly. One of the key benefits is fuel efficiency, along with minimising breakdowns and costly repairs that could have been avoided if you had had regular servicing. Everyone is trying to save money at the moment, interest rates are rising, fuel bills are rising, food costs are soaring etc so when it comes to owning a car, we need all the help we can get to keep costs down. Read on to find out more:

There are 2 types of servicing – Interim and Full – so what do they entail?

Interim service

This is a 50-point check, and the garage will happily let you know what they will be checking on the list. They will normally replace the oil filter and top up your brake fluid, power steering fluid, clutch fluid and your windscreen washer fluid. Along with replacing the oil. They will also normally check your tyre pressures. If there are any issues with your car they will let you know before they go ahead and do any additional work. Those who do lots of motorway driving often have an interim service in-between their regular servicing.

Full service

This has a 70-point check and will include everything from the interim service with some additional checks including replacing the air filter and the pollen filter. Additional fluid levels will be checked such as the antifreeze and gearbox fluid. These fluids are essential to keep all the parts fully lubricated and to ensure longevity of moving parts to reduce and friction and premature wear. Regular servicing will help to maintain the health of your Volvo or Toyota and help to minimise costly repairs. It really is way more cost effective to have preventative maintenance rather than reactive repairs. Regular servicing makes your car more attractive to future buyers and also helps to maintain the value over a car that has not been well maintained. Happy Safe Motoring Folks!
