The blog this week is about when you should be changing the oil in your Volvo or Toyota. Oil lubricates the many moving parts in your engine at the same time as keeping them from getting too hot. If
there is not sufficient oil in your Volvo or Toyota then you risk major damage to your engine (which can be very costly) and the breakdown of various
parts well before their time – again becoming costly to you.
Over time the oil will begin to degenerate as it becomes contaminated and as it becomes old. In order to keep all the parts in your engine safe and in
good condition you must change your oil regularly. Your Volvo or Toyota owners manual will tell you when this duty should be performed. It may be every
6 months or it may be done on a mileage rate. It is worth considering how many miles that you actually drive – if you are doing a lot of miles every
6 months may not be sufficient. You can perform an engine oil change yourself on your Volvo or Toyota – just make sure that you dispose of the old
oil in the correct manner – which is NOT pouring it down the drain!
Alternatively, you can book in your Volvo or Toyota for an oil change or perhaps an oil and filter change at your local independent garage – you do not
have to have the full service – it is relatively inexpensive and will give you peace of mind and many months more of happy motoring whilst at the same
