The blog this week is about the types of things that will get checked on the first service of your
Volvo or Toyota. When you buy your brand new Toyota or Volvo you can expect to get it
serviced within 12 months or after the first 10,000 miles – whichever comes sooner. You will not have to perform an MOT however within the first
3 years. New cars will come with a manufacturers warranty and in order to keep that warranty intact you must adhere to the servicing schedule and
fit the correct parts. You are free to take your Volvo or Toyota anywhere you wish for servicing and repair – it will not invalidate your warranty
if you do not take it back to the dealership for servicing. This is great for owners as they are free to shop around for the best prices.
The types of checks will differ from manufacturer to manufacturer but the items that will generally be checked include: Belts, Cables, All Fluids, Battery
and terminals, All Filters, Brakes, Lights, Exhaust, Hoses, Tyres & Suspension, Steering, Wiper Blades etc.
No garage should undertake any work above and beyond without first discussing it with you. So you should not expect a higher bill than that already quoted
to you by your Independent Repair Garage.
