The blog this week is about not ignoring your engine management light. Some people will continue to drive their Volvo or Toyota with this light on, maybe in the vain hope that if they stick their head
in the sand it will go away. This will not happen folks! Some will continue to drive the vehicle until the car breaks down and then take it to their
local garage for repair. This generally is not the wisest or cheapest move to make. As the breakdown can result in a more costly repair if other parts
have been affected or if you have no breakdown recovery and have to pay for a recovery truck to tow you to your garage. For your own safety and well
being it really is much easier to take the car in for investigation. It’s relatively inexpensive as your local independent garage will plug their diagnostic
tools in and investigate the fault code. A minor problem will always be cheaper to repair than one that turns into a major mechanical fault.
One of the most common faults is the oxygen/lambda sensor – this is what controls the amount of oxygen in your Volvo or Toyota’s emissions. Your Volvo
or Toyota will run less efficiently (which costs more) if there is a failure here. Other common problems are spark plugs, electrics, catalytic converters
and fuel cap issues. Get your Volvo or Toyota checked out by your local independent garage to rule out major issues. They will go through the costs
with you of repair and also advise you of the consequences and costs to not repairing at the first sign of a problem. Your car is a major investment
