The blog this week is about driving safely in foggy conditions. Now we are in winter there is a high chance that you will experience fog in the morning
and in the evenings. Driving in the fog can be quite scary and dense fog can be particularly hazardous so we have put together some tips to safely
manoeuvre your Volvo or Toyota and get you safely to your destination. Read below to find out our tips:

Driving in Fog

Always use your headlights when it is foggy as it will help you see ahead and you will be seen more easily by other road users. Also put on your rear fog
lights to help those behind you see you. However, you must really need to use your fog lights to put them on – they are very bright and can obscure
your indicators and brake lights so only use them when necessary. Driving with your fog lights on when they are not required can land you in trouble
– you risk a £30 fine but no penalty points. Rule 236 of the Highway Code states "You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights
unless visibility is seriously reduced as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch
them off when visibility improves."

Interestingly fog lights are not a legal requirement on vehicles, meaning you don't have to use fog lights when visibility worsens.
DO NOT use your full beam – this will not help you to see better, it will REDUCE your visibility as the fog will normally reflect the light! Adapt
your driving to the road conditions – less haste! Make sure that you have de misted your windscreen and slow down –get home safe and sound!
