If your Volvo or Toyota is over 3 years old (four years in Northern Ireland) you must have an MOT carried out on it. You can take your car to a local council
test centre. There is an argument to be had that your local council test centre is totally impartial and has nothing to gain if you Volvo or Toyota
fails its MOT as they do not normally carry out any repairs on site. Therefore if you do take your Volvo or Toyota to one of these test centres if
it fails you will have to take it elsewhere to get the repairs carried out before taking it back for its re-test. Our time is so precious nowadays

Do not been dazzled by ‘cheap’ MOT offers from companies offering MOT’s for silly prices like £20 etc – these tests normally take an hour and charging
such low prices will not cover the overheads of the company such as wages, the MOT fee and rent, rates etc so on minor issues such as windscreen wiper
replacement and bulb replacement there will be a fitting charge attached to the bill!
Find yourself a good independent garage – these garages normally do these things free of labour – you only pay for the parts – will work out cheaper in
the long run. Combining your annual service with your MOT at the same time is much more cost effective for you – as you will only be without your car
for one day plus much more cost effective for the independent garage which helps to keep their costs down thus passing on the savings to you their
customer!
