ACC UK Ltd, Winners of The Independent Garage of the Year 2015 & Inspire Customer Service Excellence 2016 Award, are Servicing, Repair & MOT Specialists
based in the heart of Farnborough, Hampshire. We like to give you hints and tips
on maintaining your Volvo or Toyota to help reduce breakdowns and expensive car repair bills.

The blog this week is about what you can do to reduce the amount of fuel that your Volvo or Toyota uses to ultimately save you money. Owning a Volvo or
Toyota or any other vehicle for that matter can be an expensive monthly expense so any costs that can be saved will add up over the course of the year.

Fuel Costs

The first tip is to look at the fuel consumption of the Volvo or Toyota you may be considering buying. Generally speaking the bigger the engine the more
fuel it will use. So really take a look at the engine size and what you will be using your Volvo or Toyota for. There really will be a saving to be
had with regards to not only fuel but also things like insurance and tax if you say plumped for a 1.8 over a 2.0.

The second way you can save fuel would be to look at your driving style. We have written blogs about tweaking little things and habits. Driving a little
slower down the motorway for example can really make a difference, changing gear correctly and being more gentle with accelerating can really help
that tank of fuel in your Volvo or Toyota go a little bit further. All these additional miles out of a tank of fuel can give you savings over the year.

De-cluttering your Volvo or Toyota – we have written blogs about that too – do you really need to keep your golf clubs in the boot or your roof rack or
roof box on? Extra weight in the car and extra drag on your Volvo or Toyota not only means that your engine is working harder, it also means that you
will use more fuel. So take the roof box or roof rack off and only use it when you need it and find another home for those golf clubs – you will save
money in the long run – honest!

Walk – do you really need to jump in the car at every given opportunity – a bit of planning could see you walking to the shops or walking the school run.
Not only will you save money by not filling up as often but you could get a little fitter whilst doing it.

Tyres – make sure that your Volvo or Toyota tyres have the correct tyre pressures. Not only will it help to reduce how hard your engine is working it will
also save fuel. You will also prolong the life of the tyres. So a triple saving there – just by ensuring you have the correct tyre pressures.

Coupons – Our supermarkets are always competing with one another – running offers on money saving vouchers – usually 5p off a litre of fuel if you spend
£60 in store for example – however we have seen 12p off vouchers too! Shell also has a loyalty card along with nectar and clubcard. So take advantage
of these and swipe everytime you shop and fill up with fuel – you can save your loyalty points over the course of the year and get fuel vouchers too.
We have customers who save all their loyalty points and it pays for Christmas. We have customers who use their Amex card along with their loyalty cards
and get double rewards. If you follow all our tips the savings can run into hundreds of pounds over the course of the year!
