expensive car repair bills.

The blog this week is about the costs and perils of failing to maintain your brakes on your Volvo or Toyota. Our blog this week will be centred around
missing your routine brake maintenance for your Volvo or Toyota and the cost implications associated with it. It really is foolhardy to miss your regular
servicing schedule and to ignore repair aspects for problematic issues. It is ALWAYS going to cost more to repair than if you had done preventative
maintenance on your Volvo or Toyota.

Brakes Servicing

You really do need to maintain your Volvo or Toyota to keep it running efficiently and for you, your passengers and other road users to be as safe as possible.
In this current economic climate it is very tempting to put off repairs and to miss servicing of your Volvo or Toyota, however the problem will not
magically go away, in fact it will get worse, resulting in more damage and more expense. Your Brakes are your most important safety system in your
Volvo or Toyota. These are the things that will help you to avoid an accident. Without the brakes you have lost control of your vehicle and the only
way of stopping is to hit something or someone! Your brake pads have a shelf life, the more you use them the quicker they will wear down. Also if you
are heavy footed on the brakes they will wear down quicker as opposed to reducing speed naturally by lifting off the throttle and using your gears.
Brake pads can last anywhere between 25,000 – 70,000 miles – town driving will cause you to use your brakes more often – long stints on the motorway
will not – that is why there is such a wide gap. If you start to hear a high pitched noise whilst using the brakes on your Volvo or Toyota it is time
to take it to your independent garage. If you get your brake pads replaced at your local independent garage when required the cost will be around £200.
If you ignore the high pitched noise and carry on driving your Volvo or Toyota then you risk damaging the discs and callipers – to replace these as
well could cost up to £1000 depending on the car. Of course if you are unable to stop and an accident occurs you risk damaging your car beyond repair.
Can you afford to replace your car from an insurance payout? So next time you hear a high pitched noise when using your brakes get yourself down to
your local independent Volvo or Toyota specialist and get your brake pads changed. It really does make financial sense! Happy Motoring Folks!
