The blog this week is about changing your pollen filter in your Volvo or Toyota regularly. Do you suffer from hay fever? A working pollen filter will help to alleviate your symptoms. Is your car starting to smell musty or mouldy? This could be a sign of a blocked pollen filter and with all due respect who wants to breathe in mould particles? Not us that’s for sure! Read our tips:
A working pollen filter is an incredibly important part of your car. Pollen filters clean the air that comes into the cabin of your car and filters out pollen, dust, dirt, exhaust fumes and any other airborne material. This helps to protect you and your passengers from the majority of the pollutants and allergens that your car encounters whilst sitting in traffic. Over time the Pollen Filter will become clogged with dust and residue from exhaust fumes. Just like the other filters in your car. Left unchanged it can become blocked and mould can grow on it. Not only will it cause your car to smell mouldy, it could also potentially cause costly problems to your vehicle’s AC system. It is recommended that you change your pollen filter every couple of years – if you live in a high pollution area such as a city you may want to change it more frequently. We have seen a lot of blocked pollen filters over the last few weeks – just head over to our facebook page or twitter feed to see some pictures of the worst offenders! Check with your local independent garage as to when your pollen filter was last changed and get it done during your routine servicing! Happy Safe Motoring Folks!
