You will find that on most cars today, and indeed on your Volvo or Toyota that there will be a brake warning light on your dashboard. You
will however not ever see this unless of course there is a problem – the best thing to do is to familiarise yourself with your Volvo or Toyota
owners’ handbook so that you know what each of the warning lights are, and what they look like. We know it’s not quite your idea of bedtime reading, and you are not expected to memorise it but it is best to have some knowledge of your Volvo or Toyota warning lights. Now of course it can have different meanings – no cars warning lighting systems are the same across the board, so be familiar with your make and model. The light may come on for something simple like you have not fully released your handbrake before you start driving. Or it could indicate that your brake fluid levels are low, maybe due to a leak. It could also illuminate to highlight that the brake pads are low. However, some vehicles could have a separate light that indicates that brake pads are low. Do not ever ignore this warning light, your brakes are incredibly important – they are the one thing that enables you to stop your Volvo or Toyota to help prevent an accident. If you notice that your brake fluid levels are low, top them up, if you are not sure how to do this take your Volvo or Toyota to your local independent garage and they can do this for you. If you find that you are topping up this fluid regularly then this could indicate that there is a leak – get it looked at by a professional.  Be safe out there, not sorry! Happy Safe Motoring folks!
