The blog this week is about reasons why your Volvo or Toyota could be shaking. Our cars will inevitably develop issues over the time we own them. Vibration and shaking are common problems.  Often starting out as barely noticeable but can quickly develop into something more violent. Read on to find out some top tips:

Fortunately, car vibration could be the cause of a few small issues that can be fixed quite cheaply. However if you leave this issue for too long it can develop into a more costly repair further down the line as the vibrations could be causing damage to other parts of the car-so please do not stick your head in the sand and ignore it-it wont go away!  Or it could be a costly job, with fears the vibration is doing damage to your vehicle in the long-term. Below are the top reasons you could be experiencing vibrations in your Volvo or Toyota:

Brake issues – If your shaking is associated with pressing the brake pedal you could have an issue with the brakes, callipers or the brake rotator. Please take your car to your local independent garage for investigation.

Tyres – bald tyres can feel the road vibrations much more. Low profile tyres can also be a culprit. If your wheels are unbalanced this could also be a cause of vibration – you will need to take your car to an independent garage to diagnose this issue.

Axel- you may have a bent axel – perhaps from hitting a kerb or after an accident – the vibration will normally increase with the increase in speed of your car – again you will need an independent garage to look at this for you.

Engine issues- when was your last service? Sometimes when your engine doesn’t get the right amount of air, fuel or spark to run smoothly this can result in your car shaking. You may just need a new set of spark plugs or the air of fuel filter replacing.

Power Steering - If your Volvo or Toyota only shakes when you turn, then it’s likely a result of an issue with the power steering system. Take your car to your local independent garage for further investigation. Again we cannot stress enough – do not leave these issues they will not go away-get them fixed straight away. Happy Motoring Folks!
