If you rarely wash your car during the winter, you are most definately not alone.

We regularly see cars on the road with barely legible numberplates, filthy headlights and brake lights and numerous vans with "Clean Me!" and other non printable wit and words of wisdom! We guess there are a lot of people out there who are saying "Why Bother? Its just going to get filthy again!" The problem with this thinking is that washing your car thoroughly and regularly is more important during the winter months than at any other times of the year. All that sand, mud, slush and ice mixed with road salt is exactly what makes your car rust.

The fastest corrosion occurs when the temperature repeatedly rises above and then falls below freezing. Especially during the messy months, be sure to rinse the undercarriage and hard-to-reach areas that are susceptible to rust, such as the bumpers and inside the wheel wells. If the temperature outside is going to stay above freezing long enough for your car and driveway to dry, fill a bucket with warm water and tackle the job at home. If not, pay a visit to your local car wash and be sure they dry the car thoroughly.

There are plenty of valeting places around, indeed you can even get your car washed whilst you are doing your weekly shopping at the supermarket. Here at ACC we try to wash and hoover all our customers vehicles that have been booked in for a service - we hope you notice! There is nothing that devalues the vehicle than unsightly rust. Rust will only spread once it has started unless you get expensive bodywork done, but why put yourself at risk of this unnecessary out of pocket expense when it could easily be avoided by regular washing!
