ACC UK Ltd, Winners of The Independent Garage of the Year 2015 & Inspire Customer Service Excellence 2016 Award, are Servicing, Repair & MOT Specialists based in the heart of Farnborough, Hampshire. We
like to give you hints and tips on maintaining your Volvo or Toyota to help reduce breakdowns and expensive car repair bills.
The blog this week is about some of the warning things that you should never ignore when it comes to your Volvo or Toyota. If you stick your head in the
sand thinking problems will go away you are kidding yourself. Invariably the repair is always going to cost more than if you had acted straight away.
Believe us when we say that preventative maintenance on your Volvo or Toyota is always going to cost less than reactive maintenance.
1) Timing Belt – if you notice that your timing belt becomes squeaky then get yourself to your local independent garage for inspection. It
will be very expensive to repair the damage done if the timing belt snaps on your Volvo or Toyota. It’s worth checking your Volvo or Toyota owners’
manual to see when the recommended timing belt service is due – never ever put this off.
2) Juddering Steering Wheel – if you notice that your steering wheel is shaking this could be for any number of reasons such as wheel alignment/balance
issues or possibly a suspension issue – get yourself to your local independent Volvo or Toyota garage for further inspection – you have compromised
car control which is dangerous to you and other road users.
3) Blown Bulbs – if you are able to replace your bulbs yourself then great, if not get yourself down to your local independent garage. You risk
a fine if caught with no lights – more expense!
4) Engine Management Light – if this light comes on then the first port of call should be to your local independent Volvo or Toyota garage for further
inspection. This light does not always mean an expensive bill! Your local motor vehicle technician will run some diagnostics to ascertain the fault
code and then they will advise from there – do not think that it will just go away on its own – it wont – and ignoring this light could prove very
expensive if you continue to drive your Volvo or Toyota.
5) Damaged Paintwork – get any damaged or scratched paintwork seen to straight away. Some scratches you can see to yourself, others will require
professional assistance. Looking after the bodywork of your Volvo or Toyota will help the resale price when you look to selling your car on.
