Take Extra Care This Platinum Jubilee Weekend 

The blog this week is based around watching out for the range of potential road safety risks during this momentous Platinum Jubilee Weekend. According to industry experts, as many as 133,000 roads across Britain will be closed off as revellers flock to street parties. Read on to find out more:

Millions of Britons are expected to take to the country’s streets this long bank holiday weekend, meaning that there will be road closures, traffic delays, an increase in pedestrians and the temptation to drink and drive if you get too carried away with the festivities.

Weekends away or days out for many of us, means that lots of popular routes face the prospect of being congested. This is typical of any Bank Holiday but maybe more so as there is an extra day’s holiday. Please plan ahead and leave extra time to get to your destination – it’s always better to arrive early than late! We have written many blogs over the years on safe bank holiday driving, take a look to see what you need to do to ensure that your car is ready for your trip.

There are also, of course, many street parties planned across the nation which obviously results in an increased number of pedestrians congregating on the streets, meaning that in some areas, drivers will need to be particularly vigilant of more people crossing roads, in particular children running about having fun. There is also the added temptation to drink and drive! We urge you to plan ahead – if you are going to drink then leave your car at home!
