Things NOT To Do When Driving An Automatic Car

The blog this week is based around some of the things that you should not do when you are driving an automatic Volvo or Toyota. Or any automatic vehicle for that matter. Everyone is trying to save money at the moment, interest rates are rising, fuel bills are rising, along with increases in your weekly food shop, so following our tips should help avoid wasting your time and money. The following are a couple of things you should never do whilst driving an automatic Volvo or Toyota:

1. Before coming to a complete stop, engaging P (Park)

Always remember that whilst driving an automatic car, you should only engage the gearbox to P (Park) when your vehicle has come to a complete stop. The reason for this is that if you change the gear to P whilst the car is moving you may damage an important component. The component causes the automatic gearbox to lock up. If this is something you have been doing you may be noticing issues - please take your Volvo or Toyota to your local independent garage for inspection.

2. Changing gears whilst still moving

You should wait for your Volvo or Toyota to come to a complete stop before changing from D to R or vice versa. If your car is unable to go into D or R during an MOT test, the examiner will not be able to complete the necessary checks and will result in either a NO MOT or an MOT failure. It is best to adopt good driving habits right from the start to avoid damaging your Volvo Toyota. These can be costly issues to rectify and are completely avoidable. Happy Safe Motoring Folks!
