The blog this week is about what does the Coolant Warning Light mean, if it comes on, on the dashboard of your Volvo or Toyota?
If the Coolant Warning light comes on, on the dashboard of your Volvo or Toyota it is usually an indication that your coolant levels are LOW. You can easily
remedy this situation by topping up the coolant in your Volvo or Toyota radiator. You do need to perform this task when your engine is cold – DO NOT
ever do this when your engine is hot – why? Well the system is pressurised and if you remove the cap on your radiator then you release a massive build
up of pressure which will result in you being sprayed with boiling coolant – this has happened to some of our customers – it is incredibly painful!!!
Secondly – do not ever use tap water to top up your radiator – this is because the calcium in the water can eventually clog up the radiator. Either
use distilled water or pre mixed coolant that you can buy at any petrol station. Try to use proper coolant though as it has anti freeze in it that
will help your radiator during the winter months. Do not ever ignore this warning light – for 5 minutes of your time and a couple of pounds you can
avoid the costs of a new radiator!
